America's Smallest Town Sells for $900K

Two Vietnamese buyers get Buford, Wyoming

(Newser) – The town billed as the smallest in America is now owned by two Vietnamese businessmen, reports CNN. The unidentified pair bought Buford, Wyoming, (population 1) for $900,000 at auction. That's far higher than expected, probably because of international interest in the story beforehand. The new owners were not identified and did not lay out their plans for the town, which includes a gas station, a three-bedroom home, and 10 acres near Interstate 80.

The town's longtime lone resident, Don Sammons, is moving to Colorado to be closer to his son, notes AP. "I felt my time here has been very happy for me, and hopefully the new owner will be able to enjoy what I've enjoyed over the years—conversations with people, the uniqueness of the area and so on—and keep the history alive." He plans to write a book about his time as "mayor."
