Syria Changes Ceasefire, Shells Towns

Regime concocts new condition, demands monitoring mission

(Newser) – Today was supposed to be the ceasefire deadline in Syria, but Bashar al-Assad's regime has done anything but cease its fire. Instead, it suddenly laid out new conditions, demanding that the ceasefire coincide with a deployment of a new international monitoring mission, the Wall Street Journal reports. Syrian forces continued to fire on towns across the country, with activists denying regime assurances that troops had pulled out of some areas. "On the contrary, reinforcements are being sent," one Idlib activist tells the AP.

In Idlib and Hama provinces, regime helicopters used heavy machine gun fire to try to draw out rebels, and in one Idlib village, troops set fire to four homes. A French Foreign Ministry spokesman said the regime's protestations that it was complying with the ceasefire were "a new expression of this flagrant and unacceptable lie." And while Russia once again stood behind the regime, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov admitted that "their efforts to implement the plan could have been more active and resolute."

Can't they all, just get along? -- Just maybe, America should send some of our people over there, to show them how to get along. -- Yea, it took a Civil War, but look at America now? -- We all, just get along fine. ------- REALLY

THere is no firm,1 sided position on the sit in Syria! Gov's can NOT say, seated from their positions that people in syria are being "oppressed" Right now the country is being FLOODED with weapons, and money going to Trigger happy people, who are shooting on EVERYBODY!,This is backed up by proof that has been HIDDEN from the world in the main media headlines. It's time to ask ourselves,is this really about the "Oppressed Syrian people",even though foreign governments are the REASON why people in syria are oppressed (There has been a 30-40 year long sanction on syria, which has only benefited the regime while making the Syrian people poor and hungry). Or this is about Political gain?
