(Newser) – A San Francisco Chronicle article about the differing political stances of George H. W. Bush and his pool boy led to a flood of donations for James Razsa's personal cause: his teeth. In addition to bagging $6,000, Razsa got a more singular offer from a San Jose dentist: Come stay at my house, and I'll fix your smile for free.

Dr. Randy Mathisen wanted to do something nice for the stranger to stop "feeling sorry for" himself after his wife suffered a stroke. Instead of a donation, Mathisen did some pro-bono cavity filling, bonding with the 23-year-old in charge of the former president's Maine pool. Razsa plans to turn the extra donations over to a dental charity in Maine.
