Queen Breaks Royal Age Record

Posted Dec 20, 07 9:07 AM CST in World

(Newser) – As of today, Queen Elizabeth II is Britain's oldest-ever monarch, AFP reports. She's now a day older than Queen Victoria lived to be, and while she doesn't seem to be slowing down much, the British are starting to think about what will happen after she dies—as well as looking back at her remarkable reign.

"I cannot think of any other head of an institution who has not put a foot wrong over such a long period of time," said one historian. "The way she has adapted is a gift of genius." She looks to be on course to break another record; in 2015 she'll become the longest-serving British monarch ever.
