(Newser) – Police believe that Luka Rocco Magnotta fled to France last weekend, after allegedly killing a man and mailing his body parts to Canadian political parties. Magnotta, a 29-year-old male model and porn actor, is still on the loose, the Globe and Mail reports; it's unknown whether he's still in France or not. Police believe he's originally from Toronto and has changed his alias often over the years—until 2006, his legal name was Eric Clinton Kirk Newman.

Police have also confirmed that Magnotta "could have been a good friend" of notorious sex killer Karla Homolka, the National Post reports—indeed, Magnotta was at one point thought to be dating the serial killer, though he denied those rumors in 2007. Police say Magnotta appears to have recorded the murder and dismemberment and posted it online—where the video is apparently still available. The killer is seen stabbing a young man repeatedly, taking his body apart, and eating parts of it, notes the Globe and Mail.
