Seahawks Henpeck Ravens for NFC 3 Seed

Posted Dec 23, 07 10:23 PM CST in Sports

(Newser) – Troy Smith, winner of the 2006 Heisman Award with Ohio State, had a forgettable first start for the slumping, injury-decimated Ravens in a 27-6 Seahawks victory. Seattle clinched the NFC's 3rd seed with a game to go, and wideout Bobby Engram improved his season receptions total to 90—a new club record.

Matt Hasselbeck set his own personal mark with his 27th touchdown in his team's workmanlike demolition of Baltimore. Even Shaun Alexander, the 2005 league MVP and onetime touchdown king, had a resurgent game with 73 yards on 11 carries. Alexander had averaged just 42 yards in his past eight games.
