(Newser) – Jack Osbourne is "great, he's doing really, really good" since announcing his multiple sclerosis diagnosis, a crying Sharon Osbourne said yesterday on The Talk. "I want to thank everyone for all their texts and goodwill and love they send to us," she added. "It's been amazing for Jack because I really believe that vibes and prayer help." The Huffington Post rounds up a dozen more famous people who have been affected by MS:

  • Montel Williams: The talk show host started a foundation to raise money for MS research. He once said he deals with pain "24 hours a day, 365 days a year," and that it sometimes feels like someone is stabbing him with a fork.

  • Teri Garr: The actress dealt with pain and other symptoms for 16 years before being diagnosed in 1999. She's now a National Ambassador for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
  • Clay Walker: The country musician has dealt with his symptoms through meditation, diet, and exercise, allowing him to regain feeling in his right hand and leg.
  • Michaele Salahi: The White House gatecrasher and Real Housewife of DC has struggled with MS for nearly two decades.

Is this going to be a sobfest for rich people with healthcare and MS?  How about a sobfest for the many Americans with MS who don't have healthcare or hefty bank accounts. I know having good healthcare makes a major difference in the treatment you receive and the quality of life you can continue to live. Until these thirteen use their fame and wealth to advocate for healthcare for all, they don't deserve any special commiseration.
