Lawmaker Hits Wrong Button, Advances Fracking

North Carolina Democrat mistakenly joins Republicans on gas exploration

(Newser) – Democracy is a messy thing sometimes: A North Carolina lawmaker hit the wrong button last night while voting and accidentally approved a measure to advance fracking in the state, reports the News & Observer. Becky Carney, a 67-year-old Democrat, pushed the green "aye" button instead of the red "no" button and gave Republicans the last vote they needed to override a veto on the measure regarding natural gas exploration.

"Oh my God," she said on the House floor when she realized her mistake. "It won't let me change my vote." Republicans refused to waive the rules and let her correct the error, so it's now in the books. A GOP sponsor of the bill didn't sound too guilty: “You ever see my golf game? It’s based on luck, not on skill.”

“I made a huge mistake. I pushed the green button instead of the red button.”

The President of the United States: Oh, what's the point? It's a disaster.  [Goes to push a huge red button; all the advisors shout "Don't do it"]  Advisor Cole: That button launches all of our nuclear missiles!  The President of the United States: Then which button gets me a latte?  Advisor Wedgie: That would be the other one, sir.  [Points to an identical button next to the first one; The President pushes it and serves himself a cup of coffee]  The President of the United States: What idiot designed this thing?  Wilson: You did, sir.  The President of the United States: Fair enough. Wilson, fire somebody.  Wilson: Yes, sir, Mr. President.  Share this quote

They might as well just have 2 buttons for every vote of every type.... a blue left and a red right button and that's it. Does anyone even vote on an issue anymore? Common sense.... it's lack of saturation in this world bugs me just a little more the older I get. I fear it will kill me... the bother of it all. The fact we can not let someone correct an obvious simple easy mistake.... is beyond me... Scratch that it isn't beyond me. The pettiness and small stature of the world is well understood. Just more bullshit....
