Hurricane Emilia Strengthens to Category 4

But storm is still far out in the Pacific, expected to weaken

(AP) – Hurricane Emilia is moving over the open Pacific as a powerful Category 4 storm but remains far from land. The hurricane's maximum sustained winds today were near 130mph. The National Hurricane Center in Miami said the storm was expected to begin a gradual weakening tonight. Emilia is centered about 685 miles south-southwest of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California and is moving west-northwest near 10mph. Farther west, Daniel has weakened to a tropical storm with maximum sustained winds of 65mph, and is centered about 1,350 miles east of Hilo, Hawaii, moving west near 16mph.

Weak for an eastern Pacific hurricane over open water this time of year. I've seen them sustained at 180 with winds gusting to 220.

And still Texas can't luck out and get a major storm or two that they need to break that long running drought. What have those long standing Christian Republicans done wrong that they are being so severly punished for? I field the question to you Pat? Rev. Robertson what is your answer? Can't hear you yet? What is it that all your fellow brothers and sisters in Texas have been doing wrong to cause them such calamity? Is it they support such heinous policies proposed by and keep electing people like GWB and Perry to run their state? GWB who took $53 million that was designated to the CHIP program health care for children of low-income working parents and redirected it to his good, wealthy buddies at the crooked ENRON Corporation. And the misdeeds of these Christian men doesn't even start there. We can't even list all of what they've done to your Earth Lord that mismanaged their water resources in Texas that has made this drought and its effects much worse than it needed to be.
