As if it didn't have enough controversy on its hands, Chick-fil-A is now facing a gender discrimination lawsuit from a woman who says she was fired so that she could be a "stay-at-home mother," GLAAD reports. In the suit, the woman (who has worked for the restaurant since 1991) says she had been rated a "satisfactory-to-above-satisfactory" employee of a Duluth, Georgia, Chick-fil-A. She says management replaced her with a male employee, and that this was part of a "pattern of discrimination against female employees."
Of course, the suit is just a sideshow compared to the controversy raging over the chicken chain's public opposition to gay marriage. Students at two Kansas universities are circulating petitions demanding Chick-fil-A be exiled from their campuses, the Kansas City Star reports. One, at the University of Kansas, has more than 1,600 signatures. The other, at Wichita State, has 450. Chick-fil-A provides food service at Wichita, and the school says it won't address the situation unless it gets reports of discrimination.
