(Newser) – A California man was nabbed aiming to smuggle $250,000 worth of methamphetamine into Japan in packages that looked like Snickers bars, say authorities. Rogelio Mauricio Harris, 41, of Long Beach, was busted as he was about to board a plane in Los Angeles. Federal agents discovered what looked like 45 full-sized Snickers bars in Harris' luggage, said a spokesman for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.

The "bars" were made of methamphetamine covered with a "chocolate-like substance" and placed inside what appeared to be Snickers wrappers, an agent told AP. Harris faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted of the drug possession counts he has been charged with.

Federal agents seized more than four pounds of methamphetamine disguised to look like popular Snickers Bars.
