US: Cuba Still a 'Sponsor of Terrorism'

Cuba angrily 'demands that the government of the United States stop lying'

(Newser) – How's this for an anniversary: The US has renewed Cuba's spot on its "state sponsors of terrorism" blacklist for the 30th year in a row, the State Department has announced. The move infuriated Cuba, which released a statement saying it "energetically rejects such a sensitive issue as terrorism be used for petty political purposes, and demands that the government of the United States stop lying."

The US justified its decision by saying that Cuba harbors members of the Basque Separatist group ETA and the Colombian FARC guerilla movement, along with fugitives fleeing US courts. But there's no evidence Cuba provides weapons or training to either group, and it has reportedly distanced itself from the Basque movement, according to the AFP. Cuba's place on the list comes with stiff sanctions and a ban on US aid.

Well, of course they're not going to take Cuba off the terror list in an election year when Florida's a swing state. If Obama is re-elected he may or may not work out some kind of deal with the Cuban government next year, depending on what his other priorities are.

well im just shocked by you peoples reaction to this news...so our government said a bad thing about cuba...might be true...probably is actually...the real shocking thing though...is that i agree with some of you....america would be best served to avoid colonialism and meddling in other countries...except where it pretty much has to be done...then im all for it without feeling bad about it...but...remind me some of the nice things castro has to say about america so i can better appreciate the indignation they express at all this name calling

So were does the U.S. live on that list....remember the "School of The Americas" the training camp for worldwide terror, and how about Isreal-our pet terrorist nation....and don't forget the farmers of terror, the CIA.Without Castro ,Cuba would be as exploited as any other WASP colony...we are mad becuase they do not need or WANT U.S.dictatorship.
