Billionaire Tetra Pak heir Hans Kristian Rausing today pleaded guilty to delaying the burial of wife Eva, who is believed to have died as long as two months before her body was found in early July in a room sealed with heavy-duty tape. But the contents of a police statement by the 49-year-old read to the court were much more pitiable than diabolical. "I do not know what caused her death. I did not feel able to confront the reality of her death," it read.
"I do not feel, with the benefit of hindsight, that following her death I acted rationally. I tried to carry on as if her death had not happened and batted away any inquiries about her." The court also heard from a statement Rausing made to his doctor, reports the BBC, in which he reportedly said, "I know it sounds selfish but I just didn't want her to leave." He was sentenced to a 10-month suspended jail sentence that will require him to receive extensive treatment at a rehab center, plus a two-month suspended sentence for driving under the influence of drugs, reports the AP.
