Britain: We'll Boost Support for Syria Rebels

Regime's arsenal looks shaky

(Newser) – With Kofi Annan stepping down from his diplomatic post, Britain is trying to pick up the slack in Syria. Foreign Secretary William Hague today promised more "practical but non-lethal support to the opposition," citing "communications" as an example, Reuters reports. "We don't give up on the diplomacy with Russia and with China. But we will have to do other things as well ... Diplomacy has so far failed the people of Syria."

In what could be more good news for the rebels, observers are citing an array of problems with the Syrian regime's weapons. Much of Bashar Assad's arsenal isn't designed for the lengthy showdown the Syrian conflict has become, the New York Times reports. Technical problems are taking a toll on weaponry intended for battling foreign powers. Meanwhile, just half of the regime's 36 special attack helicopters are functional at any given time. On top of all that, rebels are using Assad's own weaponry against him; their Aleppo arsenal now includes 14 T-72 and T-55 tanks, they say.

This is a complete distortion of Annan's departure from the process. He had been handling this as a civil war and trying to get all sides to stand down, and Britain and the US are taking sides. Not that Assad isn't doing something terrible, but still, this is the hand of the great nations manipulating the course of history in countries not their own. Western imperialism at it's finest. Non-lethal for now....

Has-been and still wanna-be big boy Britain back in the Great Colonialist Game, lock-step with the American agitators of the murderous strife in Syria. Hip Hip Hurrah. As they were in Libya, and utilising the same Islamist murderers as in Libya. The same scum which have been given the green light to use Britainistan as its base for indoctrinating Islamist terrorism for over 20 years, as long as it didn't bomb Britanistan. And now the anti-war lefties in America say its okay to utilise Islamist proxy death squads as long as no American lives are lost. So they can still go on supporting the Colonialist in chief, who is, after all, just another sitting stooge of the real string-pullers. Weasels.
