A 25-year-old mother shot her two young children to death in Tuscon, Ariz., on Saturday evening, then shot herself but not fatally, reports NBC News. Police were called to the home of Perla Morales around 7pm. Her 17-month-old baby was pronounced dead on the scene and her 4-year-old daughter died at the hospital a short time later. Morales has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
"Initial indications were that the mother of the children was home alone with them when the incident occurred," said a police spokesperson. "While in the residence with both kids, she retrieved a handgun and shot both of her children. The injuries that she sustained appeared to be self-inflicted, but were not life-threatening.”
