Amazon: Hunger Games Has Out-Sold Harry Potter

Growth in digital books helped fuel that

(Newser) – Move over Harry; these days, readers demand Katniss. The Hunger Games trilogy has now outsold the entire Harry Potter series on Amazon, the company announced today. "Interestingly, this series is only three books versus Harry Potter's seven," Amazon's editorial director tells the Wall Street Journal. "To achieve this result in just four years is a great testament to both the popularity of the work and, we think, the growth in reading digitally."

Amazon's figure counts Kindle sales, which is a big boost for the Hunger Games, which is also the most-borrowed book in the Kindle library. The Potter books are all available as ebooks as well, but that's only been the case since March, according to the Guardian. It's also worth noting that when Harry debuted in 1997, Amazon wasn't quite the juggernaut it is today.

All of us that adopted digital couldn't wait for Potter to be officially released.  We all have them on our device, so didn't need to buy them when Rowling finally decided to join this century.

I really enjoyed the story but I wasn't big on the writing style. I feel like, with a really hard-ass editor, the books could have been 100 times better.

I read the first book. It is well written but still there are too many similarities to "Battle Royale" to ignore. I stopped reading the second book into the first chapter. The movie.. I don't think it was character cast very well.. struggling through it.
