Bin Laden: 'Blood for Blood'

Terror chief threatens Israel & Sunnis backing Iraqi government

(Newser) – Al-Qaeda terror chief Osama bin Laden denounced Sunnis supporting the US-backed Iraq government as “evil traitors,” and vowed to spread the group’s holy war to Israel, promising "blood for blood, destruction for destruction" in an online audiotape issued yesterday, AP reports. The message didn’t mention former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s assassination, which the Pakistan government has attributed to al-Qaeda and the Taliban.

Bin Laden vowed that al-Qaeda would foil “dangerous schemes” by US and Iraqi officials working to establish a national government encompassing Sunnis, Shiites and Kurds. Bin Landen’s threats against Israel mark a change for al-Qaeda, which has played little role there so far. Most of the 56-minute tape targeted Iraq.
