(Newser) – Seems Americans aren’t beating the heat in the cool refuge of movie theaters. Expendables 2 hobbled to No. 1 this weekend with $28.8 million, $6 million behind The Expendables' debut, despite having some extra star power (Liam Hemsworth and Chuck Norris are among the "newbies"). Bourne Legacy slid to second ($17 million), while ParaNorman took third ($14 million) and The Campaign fourth ($13.4 million). Whitney Houston's last movie, the musical drama Sparkle, came in fifth on the low side of expectations ($12 million), says The Hollywood Reporter.

Great, another lame ass movie with plenty of guns, killing, and tons of explosives. Talk about a cheap way to try and cash in on past glories. Sounds like Stallone was the brain child of this obsurdity. Just don't talk much Silvester,  we can't understand you. Most movies are geared to target audiences. It's depressing to see that producers are willing to fork out the cash on movies like this in anticipation of scoring big on the cash returns. It's a reflection of the large numbers expected in that target audience.  Stop going to see them at the theatres and wait till they come out in video. That will curb their return and subsequently slow down production of junk like this.

It doesn't matter that the movie is mindless drivel. What matters is the price of admittance. I'm not gonna blow the better part of a fifty dollar bill to take the family to see this movie in the theater. People who star in movies these days are grossly overpaid, and they have driven the price of a ticket out of sight. Ten bucks a head to see a movie? Fuck that! I'll wait and get it for a buck or two from Redbox or Net Flix..

Who doesn't love a mindless action movie every once and awhile.
