Big names want in on the Indian film industry

Big studios such as Sony, Paramount Pictures, and Disney will be doing their best to make it big this year in Bollywood, India's increasingly profitable film scene, the Financial Times reports. As the India business becomes less mystifying to outsiders, big international studios want a piece of the world's most prolific film industry.

“It looks much more like a business that we understand than perhaps we did 10 or 15 years ago," said Sony's chairman. Studios have been looking into creating their own productions in local languages. Sony's Hindi-language Saarwariya came out in November and made big profits despite being panned by critics. (More Bollywood stories.)
