The Magic had a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter but lost to the New Jersey Nets 96-95 despite having multiple chances to win in the waning seconds, reports the Orlando Sentinel. Hedo Turkoglu led Orlando with 23 points while Vince Carter led the Nets with 18, including the winning free throws with 25 seconds left. Elsewhere on the court:

  • LeBron James scored 32 points in the second half and Cleveland got a rare excellent shooting performance from Larry Hughes in a four-point win over improving Atlanta.
  • Before the game,  Knicks coach Isiah Thomas talked about championships for the franchise but then was soon brought back to reality as his team was routed by mediocre Sacramento, 107-97.
