Fiona Apple Jailed on Hashish Charges

Singer spends the night behind bars in Texas

(Newser) – Fiona Apple didn't learn Willie Nelson's lesson. The singer-songwriter had to spend the night in jail in Sierra Blanca, Texas, because an inspection of her tour bus yesterday turned up what police say was a "tiny amount of pot and hash," reports AP. The problem is any quantity of hash is a felony in Texas, while small amounts of pot is a misdemeanor. The Sierra Blanca checkpoint is notorious, with Nelson, Snoop Dogg, and Armand Hammer all getting arrested there in years past, reports TMZ.

Yes, coverage of Fiona Apple's arrest includes plenty of references to her old hit 'Criminal.'   (YouTube)

All heil the police state. 3 times more prisoner then China and only 1/4 the population. 1 in 6 People in this country are in prison on Cannabis related charges. Obama goes on Jimmy Fallon and talks about doing a little blow and smoking pot, but he has his justice department enforce these drug laws that rob people of opportunities later in life and rob them of their freedom now. All the while the same justice department brakes the law and lies to congress. Fuck the two party system and fuck the police state. If you want change, don't vote or write in someone you believe in, as a statement. When is enough enough? Obama and Romney are the equivalent of Map Quest giving you two routes to the same destination.

Such a little sleepy gas stop.  One cafe.  There can be no more than 200 people in the entire area.  Who would suspect this to be a "drug trap".  I have stopped there many a time.  It's about 150 miles south of El Paso and the perfect stop for a cup of coffee...when driving from Phoenix.  Somehow it gives me the creeps now. "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" comes into mind. What is happening there now, is alot of Border Patrol.  Take care.
