The Kansas Jayhawks proved they belonged in a BCS Bowl game Thursday by beating No. 3 Virginia Tech 24-21 in the FedEx Orange Bowl, the Kansas City Star reports. “They gotta say we’ve played somebody now!” Kansas cornerback Aqib Talib chanted as the No. 8 team celebrated at Dolphin Stadium in Miami.

Many said 12-1 Jayhawks didn't deserve a BCS bid because they played a light schedule, but Kansas turned in a complete game in their finale. Kansas had the No. 2 offense in the country coming in, but its defense stuffed the Hokies with five sacks and three interceptions. KU's Todd Reesing threw for 227 yards and a touchdown.
