(AP) – Matt Cain pitched his second clincher of October as the San Francisco Giants won their record-tying sixth elimination game of the postseason, beating the defending World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals 9-0 in Game 7 of the NL championship series. The Giants return to the World Series two years after winning it all, getting the final out in a downpour. They'll play the Detroit Tigers, who have been waiting for an opponent since sweeping the Yankees. Game One is tomorrow night. Bleacher Report has details of last night's game here.

Cards asked for it...defense was a nightmare. Hopefully this WS will have a better viewership rating than '10...doubt it though.
