Facebook Testing Notification Beeps

The horror, the horror...

(Newser) – In an apparent effort to ensure that no one ever leaves a Facebook tab open in their browser ever again, Facebook has started testing a new "feature" in which the site emits a helpful beeping sound every time you get a notification. A select few lucky users are already being subjected to, er, we mean being treated to this feature, including Sean Ludwig of VentureBeat. "We hate it already," he writes. "Thankfully, it's easy to turn off" via an option in the notifications menu.

Of course, some users who don't get notifications often may actually like the feature. A Facebook executive notes that it's "currently just a test."

Everyone I know who uses facebook has 1 good thing to say about that site. and that surrounds its base purpose, it keeps me connected with people... But then, all I hear are peopl COMPLAIN about it, nothing else except for fucking words with friends and connecting ever comes out positive. Facebook is like Star Wars... gave you something once a long time ago and just spent years shitting in your mouth, you'll admit it but still pay the price.

I pray that facebook goes under. Their ever changing site, policies and privacy really concerns me. They will sell your information for almost nothing. I deactivated my account 2 weeks ago and don't miss it one bit. I see more text messages and people actually connecting. I'm happy I got rid of pseudo online relationships.

A notification sound that can be turned off if you don't like it? Sounds good to me.
