(Newser) – A man accused of brutally murdering his former girlfriend mutilated her and may have cooked and eaten some of her body parts, according to police. Christopher Lee McCuin, 25, has been charged with capital murder in the killing of Jana Shearer, 21, who was abducted from her Texas home last week, reports the Tyler Morning Telegraph.

Authorities said they found Shearer's body, as well as an ear boiling in a pot of water and a plate of human flesh with a fork in the home where McCuin was arrested. “This was a very violent murder," said the local sheriff. "I’m never shocked anymore, but I am surprised that human beings can actually do this to each other."
