(Newser) – A 15-year-old boy has been charged in the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old girl on a school bus in Homestead, Florida, yesterday. Cops say the gun went off by accident and hit Lourdes Guzman-DeJesus in the neck—in front of her 7-year-old sister and several other students—after the teen pulled it out of his bag to display it, the Miami Herald reports. He has been charged with manslaughter and carrying a concealed firearm.

The victim's mother described her daughter as a "beautiful angel" who loved music, dancing, and art. "Feels like just yesterday I saw her running around in her Pampers, dancing and modeling for the camera," she said in a statement. "Times and moments spent with [her] are memories I will cherish and keep in my heart forever."

Lourdes Guzman-DeJesus was shot dead on her way to school yesterday morning. She was 13.

So the gun is loaded and cocked and these morons on the bus are grabing at it and it goes off ?  Guns don't just go off unless someone makes them.  There's also the possibility that the gun fell to the ground and if that happened it was cocked and there was live ammo in the chamber.  I tell you what, kids do the dardenst things.

The parents of the boy are the ones who should be charged.
