Now Banned in Amsterdam: Smoking Pot at School

Kids will just have to take their weed elsewhere

(Newser) – It's kind of amazing that this wasn't illegal already: Students will no longer be able to smoke pot in Amsterdam's schools, the city's mayor announced today. Just as amazing: It's the first city in the Netherlands to introduce such a ban, reports the AP. A city rep says that while the schools themselves have always outlawed marijuana, they struggled to actually enforce the policy. Starting Jan. 1, they'll now be considered "no toking zones" under a public nuisance ordinance. Smoke pot on the playground, and police will be able to issue a fine.

Amsterdam is passing laws to reduce the drug use there. While the US is expanding it.

I "loved" Amsterdam, and waking up to the organs playing at noontime, while staying at the "House of Liberty" and visiting Dam Square, and drinking at the "State Side Bar" and ending up on "Canal street" with the ladies of the evening. --- The greatest place in the world to vacation. --- EVERY year I used to go there, till I got married. --------- REALLY
