Emboldened, Right-to-Work Group Eyes New States
But other GOP governors seem leery of inviting controversy

(Newser) – The success of right-to-work legislation in Michigan has emboldened the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation to try to work the same anti-union magic in yet more states, the group's president tells the Washington Post. "If Michigan can do it, then I think everybody ought to think about it," he says, citing Alaska, Missouri, Montana, and Pennsylvania as potential targets.

But national unions say they won't be caught off guard again the way they were in Michigan, and many GOP governors appear unwilling to dive into the controversial issue. "There is not much of a movement to do it," Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett said this week. But that's not deterring activists: In Ohio, where the GOP legislature and governor show little interest in taking up the issue, an independent group is trying to get it on the state's ballot.

Since this tripe is already law in Michigan, why not give it a year or two to see if it works before instituting it in other states? Oh, I see, you have to railroad it through before it's revealed as the total disaster it is, and before you can get out of town. I grew up in Grand Rapids. I loved Michigan. But it is now trash, chewed up and spit out by republicans.

I have a question, several. Purly for my knowledge, not trying to upset anyone with this. 1. If the unions do not bring in more people to pay for the current retirement/pension funds & there CEO's/CFO's/ & lawyers what will happen? 2. What happens if you loose more union backbone states? 3. without the constant increase in recruitment do you not face the same fate as say Social Security? 4. Does it not seem more like a ponzi scheme in the long run if you look @ pay income to due contributed against the outgoing retirement/pension package (Like several companies & Cities)? 5. Do not most Union workers retire with a larger yearly income than when they work (so would you not need worry about my #3)? 6. Do those of you in the union truly feel that where you are working now, would do you so wrongly? 7. Why does the union need to be in any state constitution as far as the power of anything is concerned, (the power should be within the UNION RANK & FILE only, not there bosses)? 8. How is it evr gonna be a good work enviorment if you have that relationship with an employer (maybe i have just been lucky to have never of worked for a company like this)? Again just wanting to see from the other side. any insite would be wonderfull.
