(Newser) – A man who may have wanted to make a point about school safety was arrested this morning after walking into Sandy Hook Elementary School in Strasburg, Virginia, carrying a two-by-four labeled, "high-powered rifle." The school, of course, has the same name as that of the school in Connecticut where Adam Lanza's massacre took place last week. Christopher Gerrit Johnson, 33, was not found to have any actual weapons, the Northern Virginia Daily reports. "We don't know his intentions, but it did seem to be related to bringing awareness to school safety," says a police officer.

It seems the 2X4 was a sort of metaphor for a high-powered rifle.

"Man walks into school with wood" would have been a better headline.

An observation on the media and our elected elite. They've created days of content on this story and now have congress going to committee to act on the public outrage they've reported non stop. The media will now slow down on the propaganda until it comes out of committee - with a few stories every once in a while to keep the issue in our minds. Once it's out of committee they will ramp up the campaign again. In the end it will drag on long enough to get close to the next election - yet another issue to divide us. Only a few untouchable elected elites will keep the issue as a primary concern. Those in vulnerable districts will be strangely silent.
