(Newser) – Remember when Christian Slater was hot? Neither does America. The onetime A-lister found a new basement in the box office this year with his presumably horrible horror flick, Playback. How bad are the stats? Playback played one theater for one week in March—and raked in a not-so-whopping $264. That's about 33 tickets sold, paying the mortgage on a $7.5 million budget, reports the Huffington Post, which also runs down some other box-office bombs from 2012.

I assume the reason why Christian Slater made this movie was because he needed to make a house payment.

Slater had actually had some great roles and played them well. "True Romance" for one. "Very Bad Things" is another. If you haven't seen both of these, you don't know how convincing Slater is.

Christian Slater is nothing more than a bad impersonation of Jack Nicholson. Just like Sean Penn is a bad impersonation of Robert DeNiro.
