(Newser) – A pair of US drone strikes in northwest Pakistan near the Afghan border killed 13 people today, including a senior militant commander who had a truce with the Pakistani military, intelligence officials and residents said. Five Pakistani security officials said the commander, Maulvi Nazir, was reportedly among nine people killed in a missile strike on a house in the village of Angoor Adda in the South Waziristan tribal region early today.

Nazir's killing could prove to be a contentious issue between Washington and Islamabad, which is believed to have struck a nonaggression pact with Nazir ahead of the Pakistani military's 2009 operation against militants in South Waziristan. Militants under Nazir's command focused their attacks on American forces in neighboring Afghanistan, earning the militant leader the enmity of the US. But Pakistan's military viewed Nazir and militant chiefs like him as key to keeping the peace internally because they don't attack Pakistani targets.

blowback "feared"? I think they mean blowback "guaranteed", or blowback "intended", isn't that why we use drones in the first place? And I see that all the weepy, "peace-loving" sociopaths on Newser are calling this one [hilarious]. Yep, it's all 'love-thy-neighbor' til it's a brown person who speaks a different language being murdered, then it's [hilarious]. What would america be without it's hypocrites?

Those people are savages. They are relics that should be removed from the gene pool. Anyone so willing to kill and die for a "god" should not be a part of humanity going forward. They are stuck with their stone age mentality.

When is our government going to learn that no moose-limb country is on the level? We are the Infidel, only worthy of being told lies to get our money, make our women slaves, and kill us men. If the non-believers think us American Christians are bad, just wait until they are forced to bow down to allah or get beheaded. The day is coming.
