(Newser) – Whether you remember 'thirtysomething' fondly or think of it as a favorite of your parents, there's no escaping the familiar faces from that 80’s cult favorite. None of them became household names, but almost all of them moved into powerful positions behind the camera. The Wall Street Journal channel-surfs down memory lane.

Cast members say their success is no coincidence, and creator Ed Zwick recalls that the set became an informal graduate program in TV production. At the head of the class: Peter Horton, who executive produces “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “Dirty Sexy Money”; “Brothers and Sisters” producer Ken Olin; and Polly Draper, who created the Nickelodeon hit “The Naked Brothers Band.”
