Sorry, USDA Employees: No More Deep-Fried Lunch
Cafeterias will adhere more closely to USDA's dietary guidelines

(Newser) – For years, the USDA has been giving Americans dietary guidelines—and now USDA workers will have to start living by those guidelines, at least during lunchtime. The cafeterias at the Agriculture Department's DC headquarters have gotten a makeover, and the most headline-worthy change is that the deep fryers have been completely axed. That means some of the most popular items (fried chicken, french fries) will no longer be served. Other tweaks: Diners will be given 100% whole wheat bread and pasta, a dietitian is stationed on-site, and chefs have been instructed to use less oil, butter, and salt.

There are other, smaller, changes, including a new station in one cafeteria whose food completely conforms to the department's low-sodium, low-fat, low-cholesterol, low-calorie dietary guidelines, the Washington Post reports. But no one will be forced to eat healthfully: USDA workers may just decide to walk to some other government cafeteria; the Energy Department, for example, is still using fryers. Or they can just go to the Valencia Cafe, located in the USDA building but not an official cafeteria, to pick up some mozzarella sticks or onion rings.

10% fat, 10% protein, plant-based, no oil and no dairy? We might be trying to live up to Dr.Caldwell Esselstyn's program that has been reversing and curing heart disease! Read about it in his book, "How to Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease, a scientifically based cure." See the photos of blocked arteries open up and get perfect circulation again after the fruits and protein rich (all we need is between 5 and 10% protein for our health) veggies, seeds, whole grains, berries, and other yummy vegetables. No clogging oils like margerine, which is so sticky, it's as glue-like as the casein in dairy that they make Elmer's glue out of! His decades long studies proved that arteries will clean out beautifully without medicine and open heart surgery. All you have to do is give up the animal cholesterol and animal protein and bottled oils and stay away from dairy. Just think, no more erretile dysfunction! No more diavetes, no more breast , edometrial and prostate cancers! Thank you USDA for helping your employees get on the bandwagon like ex-prez Bill Clinton, who will never have to have open heart surgery again now that he's a vegan! We admire you for giving people a choice. It takes about 90 days to not crave fat anymore, especially when the a/c is set so low to accommodate the heavies in the building, but the more people give up the fried foods, the more weight they will lose and the more energy they will have, as well as having less need for the stimulants in between meals to keep them awake. They will lose weight and the a/c will not have to be so cold anymore! The whole government is looking at you now, USDA kitchen. Good for you!
