(Newser) – Laura Bush has publicly backed gay marriage in the past, but that apparently doesn't mean she wants her views used to actually promote gay marriage. The Respect for Marriage Coalition released an ad yesterday that includes clips of Bush and fellow Republicans Colin Powell and Dick Cheney discussing their support for gay marriage in interviews. "When she became aware of the advertisement last night, we requested that the group remove her from it," Bush's rep says, according to the Dallas Morning News.

The ad features Bush's 2010 interview with Larry King, in which she said, "When couples are committed to each other and love each other then they ought to have the same sort of rights that everyone has." But Bush "did not approve of her inclusion in this advertisement nor is she associated with the group that made the ad in any way," says her rep. Backlash has been swift, the Atlantic Wire notes, with many labeling Bush a hypocrite.

It's not nearly enough for Laura Bush to take herself out of a pro-gay marriage ad. This FOOL, this stupid, stupid, stupid woman has given the gay left ammunition to destroy the cultural institution of marriage! She must retract her statements in a public way and renounce them for what they are. SSM is the tool the far left is using to destroy the cultural institutions of western societies just as Antonio Gramsci, the Italian Marxist revolutionary said they could be. Now we have the lesbian activist Masha Gessen who is saying publicly that SSM is in fact the tool by which the left will destroy the institution of marriage. Gessen says that "gay leaders are lying" about their intentions, although she thinks that the destruction of marriage is GOOD. If SSM is permitted, it will inevitably destroy marriage. Laura Bush you have my eternal contempt and scorn for your comments in which you said that SSM is "inevitable." You're an IDIOT, a real live DINGBAT, and I'm not the slightest bit impressed with your "speaking out" on this issue. When you agree with people who want to destroy the Christian religion and our cultural heritage, you're either a traitor or the dumbest tool who ever opened her mouth. Who elected you? SHUT THE HELL UP AFTER you retract your stupid, idiotic statements. Go and Google Masha Gessen on YouTube if you doubt me. LB, don't EVER show your face in a conservative gathering again. You are NOT welcome, and neither is your mother in law, the pro-baby butchery former FLOTUS.

I'd never expect her to support it anyway, I didn't even know she basically did. It was quite good surprise but then again...this withdrawal is totally expected, unfortunately.
