Tomas Plekanec netted two goals for the Montreal Canadiens to help the Habs beat the New York Islanders 3-1 at the Nassau Coliseum. The Islanders had just returned from a successful 2-1-2 road trip but look sluggish on their home ice; Cristobal Huet needed to stop only 17 shots to earn the victory.
