(Newser) – Lindsay Lohan was on the Late Show last night to talk about her role in Scary Movie 5, but David Letterman was more interested in discussing her recent troubles and upcoming stint in rehab, the New York Daily News reports. "How many times have you been in rehab?” Letterman asked. "Several," said an uncomfortable Lohan. Letterman continued undaunted: "And how will this time be different? What are they rehabbing, first of all? What is on their list? What are they going to work on when you walk through the door?” Joked Lohan, "We didn’t discuss this in the pre-interview."

She eventually opened up, and even teared up as Letterman complimented her for having enough "spine" to come back on the show after all the jokes he's made about her. Of rehab, Lohan said, "I think, to be honest, I’m the happiest when I’m working and the healthiest, and I think this an opportunity for me to, you know, focus on what I love in life. And I don’t think it’s a bad thing. I think it’s a blessing ... and not a curse." Gossip outlets are using words like "grilled" and "interrogated" for Letterman's interview, but a teary Lohan told him at the end that he's "very sweet," and added, "I love seeing you."

There are millions of people who want LL and Churley Sheen to get off the alcohol bottle. Neither one of them has had much chance to show their acting ability yet. Even if they are grossly overpaid, like most successful Hollywood actors, I don't think they should suffer from alcoholism...Because the cops will always be there, especially for LL. It's not funny how Cops get let go for DUI (and everything else!), while the rest of us pay heavy dues. Most Americans laugh at alcoholics. They say it is the victims fault. Alcoholism is a disease like cancer. The bums who make fun of a suffering young woman who drinks and gives envious creeps chances to get her into trouble are disgusting.
