It looks like he will easily hit his mark of $2 million

(Newser) – Using Kickstarter to fund an indie movie is officially a Hollywood thing now. After the folks behind Veronica Mars proved it could be done, Zach Braff is taking his turn, reports the Hollywood Reporter. The Scrubs star aims to raise $2 million for his Wish I Was Here project, about a struggling actor forced into home-schooling his kids. Braff hopes to repeat the success of his cult hit Garden State, and he's well on his way: In its first hours, his Kickstarter page had already raised nearly $1 million.

I am one of 1105 people who have backed Alex Cox to direct direct "Bill the Galactic Hero", based on the novel by Harry Harrison. It is s great way to help get a film made from a book I enjoyed so much when it came out umpteen years ago. And I will eventually get a DVD and a few fun silly things to go with it :)

If this is the only way to keep investors out of the creative process of the film, i'm all for it.
