And you thought the airport was bad. This football season, fans will be forbidden from bringing most bags and purses into NFL stadiums, the league announced yesterday. Only small clutches "about the size of a hand," clear one-gallon freezer bags, and clear plastic tote bags that are no bigger than 12" x 6" x 12" (conveniently sold at "club merchandising outlets") will be allowed. Even fanny packs are expressly forbidden, as are, for some reason, seat cushions.

The statement cites the Boston Marathon bombing as a "factor" in the decision. "This will make the job of checking items much more efficient," a league VP tells CBS Sports. "We will be able to deliver a better and quicker experience at the gates." But odds are this won't go over well with fans. "So should I duct tape my extra gloves [and] scarves to myself when it's 21 degrees?" one Steelers season ticket holder asks in the Post-Gazette. "What am I, a wool mule?" (More NFL stories.)
