(Newser) – About 8 million immigrants living unlawfully in the US would initially gain legal status under sweeping legislation moving toward a vote in the Senate, the Congressional Budget Office said today. The CBO also said the bill would push federal deficits lower in each of the next two decades. The eagerly awaited report by Congress' non-partisan scorekeeping agency said the legislation would increase federal spending in the form of benefits for those gaining legal status, but those expenses would be more than offset by a rise in the labor force, increasing revenues. The CBO said deficits would fall by $197 billion across a decade, and by $700 billion in the following 10 years if the bill became law.

Supporters of the legislation said the report would add to the momentum behind a measure that toughens border security at the same time it holds out the hope of citizenship to millions who came to the United States illegally or overstayed their visas. The assessment came as the pace of activity increased at both ends of the Capitol. Challenged by protesters chanting "shame, shame," House Republicans advanced legislation to crack down on immigrants living illegally in the United States, at the same time the Senate lurched ahead on a dramatically different approach offering the hope of citizenship to the same millions.

8 M Immigrants would gain legal status in reform...Since when do we have millions of illegal aliens being called immigrants? Their is nothing politically correct about this story title!! This is criminal, period!! Did you see the picture in the headline link.. those aren't working people, those are illegal baby factory's and there is this big sucking sound coming from them, that sounds like a vaccum sucking our government systems dry of money. Leaving us citizens with nothing!

Do you know, I really don't care how much the churches lobby congress about it being the right thing to do. My god doesn't want the congress to free criminals, that have commited crimes against the words of my church and our federal laws. These people willing broke the law in Gods Name? Some religion, I've never hurd of! it! Get these illigals deported now. Let our seniors get what they worked all their religous lives for, more and not less funds, to help them thru their senior years. Did you know that by congress allowing illegal aliens to stay it will reduce the funds going to our seniors and will do nothing to get the 20 million legal AMERICAN'S without work, JOBS.. Did you also know that legal or NOT, the employers of these people will NOT pay into the Social Security either way! DEPORTING the ILLEGALS will reduce our deficite by billionS and increase AMERICAN JOBS ! It will fix a lot of things that are broken, those that are not being funded, because of this government helping these illegals, illegally! Here that, "illegally," Congress!! I know they are just people, but they can be people in their countries, break the government system in other countries! Deport these illegals! IT'S THE RIGHT THING TO DO FOR OUR BROKEN SYSTEM OUR SENIORS OUR MIDDLE CLASS AND OUR CHILDREN...SAVE AMERICA!! It cost $46,000 per inmate to keep up yearly except for cost increases.. Take that same amount x 28 million unemployed illegals out of 40 million illegals, and you can see real quick what our government is spending, plus nothing being put into our Social Security System, and why these people need to be sent away. This is why our Seniors are having to eat butter and bread while illegals are grilling steaks! One more question. Is our Congress getting paid to keep illegals here by their employer's???? If all, are not Deported, You know my Answer! Okay, Enough Said....

I must be living a nightmare.. I never in my life though that people of our government would pat criminals on the back and hand them a million dollar each for breaking the laws of the land and let them stay with them in their homes... I think that would criminal in and of itself for that to even be brought up as a resolve. It's not what I served in the military for! Not for a million or 28 million criminals to get pats on the back and a free ride in the presidential Limo and to get to sleep in the White House with the obama family! Does this mean everyone that commits a federal crime in the months of Jan. Feb. Mar. Apr. May. Jun. Jul. Aug. Sept. Oct. Nov. Dec. get to go free from now on? Does this mean all the jailed Terrorist all get citizenship and freedom? They can't discriminate! That would violate Federal Laws......
