Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of secretary of State John Kerry, is in critical but stable condition in a Boston hospital after falling ill at the couple's holiday home on Nantucket Island. The 74-year-old heir to a ketchup fortune appeared to have a seizure of some kind, sources tell the New York Times. She was stabilized at a small hospital on the island before being transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, accompanied by her husband.

"All we saw was the ambulance leave the Kerry/Heinz driveway and race off in the motorcade," a neighbor tells the Boston Herald. "State police, secret service, ambulance, and empty diplomatic limo. Lots of racing around by the casually attired protection." Heinz Kerry, who married her husband in 1995 and was prominent in his 2004 presidential campaign, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 but was deemed cancer-free after several surgeries.
