(Newser) – A coroner report reveals that James DiMaggio was shot five times by the FBI—in the arm, leg, chest, and once in the side of his head—and more details are emerging about what happened the day Hannah Anderson was abducted. Warrants explain that Hannah's mom and brother were "tortured and killed" in DiMaggio's home before it was set ablaze, reports CNN, though exactly how they were tortured isn't clear. Christina Anderson was found under a tarp in the garage near a bloody crowbar, while her son's burnt remains were discovered inside. Also in the garage: the family dog—shot dead.

Hannah and DiMaggio also exchanged 13 phone calls that day before she was picked up from cheerleading practice at 4pm, though it's not clear who picked her up. Hannah detailed how DiMaggio "tricked us" on social media site ask.fm earlier this week. And it may have been Hannah's preoccupation with social media and friends that caused DiMaggio to snap. "She was rejecting him," a family rep told the San Diego Union-Tribune. "Hannah was becoming more adult and pulling away naturally. I suspect Jim didn't take that well."

I've read several articles on this story, and reporters continue to fail to ask basic questions, such as: where was Hannah during the time her mother and brother were being tied up in the detached garage? Was she somehow detained (bound up?) in the main house? And how can investigators conclude that both were "tortured" if one body was burnt to a crisp? And since both bodies were in a building where the fire occurred, how is it that the mom's body wasn't also burnt? Where was Hannah's father and what was he doing? Because the story is so poorly written, it leads one to conclude that Hannah had a part in things as her whereabouts during the fire and slayings hasn't been established. Other problems with the story: Apparently the three appeared at the "psychos" home in the late afternoon. Later, when Hannah and DiMaggio are seen in the Idaho wilderness, Hannah is wearing pajama bottoms. That leads one to conclude that she had been wearing that since her family showed up at the guy's house. Why pajamas? Were they planning on a sleepover? I don't fault the girl, but her parents are or were absolute idiots to allow their daughter to take trips out of town with the guy. Were the parents libertines, swingers? Probably not, but their clueless naivety show themselves to be totally irresponsible. Their relationship with DiMaggio was very unhealthy.
