(Newser) – The Hannah Anderson kidnapping case gets even more puzzling: The family of James DiMaggio wants DNA samples from both Anderson children because they suspect the longstanding friend of the family could be the biological father of Hannah Anderson, whom he is accused of kidnapping, and Ethan, who he is accused of murdering, CNN reports. It has also emerged that DiMaggio was on the road with 16-year-old Hannah around 20 hours before his home, where the bodies of Ethan and his mother were discovered, caught fire, reports the Los Angeles Times.

A San Diego County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman says DiMaggio and Anderson were captured on a Border Patrol camera at a westbound checkpoint just after midnight on August 4, and the house fire wasn't reported until 8pm that day. Officials stress that the teen was a "victim in every sense of the word" and was "not a willing participant." The "investigation is winding down, and we hope that the attention does as well," the spokeswoman says. "Because we hope that Hannah and her family can begin this arduous process of grieving and learning how to deal with the new normal that they have."

Officials stress that the teen was a "victim in every sense of the word" and was "not a willing participant." I agree with the officials, she wasn't a willing participant. If she was things would have went smoother. I think Jim believe that Hanna was his daughter, and might have even mention it to Hanna. They call DiMaggio a family friend, but I would like to know who met him first? and who introduce who to who? Did Jim know the father ,or the mother first. I do not think Hanna would have been in on it, since there seem to not have been a cut plan,or a way out. Plus she had no way of knowing that DiMaggio would be shot and killed.

Will their new normal be more normal than their old normal?

If it turns out he is really Hannah's dad then her mom and brother wont be so dead.
