St. John Clearly Not Patron Saint of Shooting

Villanova also can't buy a bucket vs. Pitt; Ole Miss upsets Vandy

(Newser) – St. John's shot a season-low 21.3% from the field and didn't get a basket until five minutes remained in the first half—and No. 6 Georgetown took advantage, trampling the Red Storm 74-42. The intermission tally was an absurd 41-14, and fittingly, a reserve player led the victors with 18. Also in college hoops:

  • No. 18 Pittsburgh also took advantage of streaky shooting by Villanova, who misfired on 11 of their first 12 baskets in the 69-57 romp.
  • No. 24 Ole Miss turned a narrow halftime lead (29-26) into a rout of No. 19 Vanderbilt, 74-58, sending Vandy to 0-4 in road SEC games.
