(Newser) – Well, score one for Gwyneth Paltrow, minus one for Vanity Fair, and minus a thousand for all the people who were dying to read this: The "epic takedown" of the actress the magazine was planning to run has been defanged, sources tell Radar. "Whatever they wind up publishing, it’s going to be soft," one insider says. "Gwyneth’s campaign against the Vanity Fair article has apparently worked and she’s not as worried as she was three weeks ago. But the article is still coming out and she still refuses to participate in it."

Paltrow had been waging all-out war, asking her famous friends to shun the magazine and boycott its Academy Awards after-party. Naughty but Nice Rob speculated Gwyneth may have won earlier this week, noting on his site, "The new Vanity Fair is about to hit newsstands with Amy Adams on the cover. What’s missing? THE TELL ALL Gwyneth Paltrow exposé that was supposed to appear. Did Gwyneth use her power to get the article killed???" As for what might have been, click for a roundup of controversies and scandals the article could have delved into.
