(Newser) – Colorado student Karl Pierson walked into his high school intending to kill a lot more people than just the debate coach who kicked him off the team, chilling new details suggest. Investigators say the 18-year-old entered Arapahoe High School with 125 rounds of ammunition, three incendiary devices, and letters and numbers written on his arm that corresponded to five locations inside the school, USA Today reports. He had also written the Latin phrase "Alea iacta est"—"The die has been cast"—on his forearm.

Pierson, who was armed with a shotgun he bought legally, "was intent on causing the maximum amount of harm," and the Latin phrase, attributed to Julius Caesar as he crossed the Rubicon, indicates "that things have been put in motion and won't be stopped," the local sheriff says. But despite the plan, Pierson was dead within 80 seconds of entering the school. The classmate he shot, 17-year-old Claire Davis, remains in critical condition and classes at the school will not resume until next year, reports the Denver Post.

Good thing for the armed "good guy". It could have been much worse than it was, although I have to agree that even one person shot is too many. I suppose our illustrious government will be looking to outlaw shotguns now. And how dare a criminal have more than 7 rounds on him? Hmmm. That seems to be what the anti-gun bunch don't understand. Criminals are criminals because they do NOT abide by the law. So the gun was acquired legally, which means that the anti-gun bunch will want to ban all guns, so that ONLY criminals and LEOs will have them. I have not read anything about the NRA being happy about "nuts" and gun violence. Can you provide a link to that? I believe the NRA stands up for American's Constitutional rights to bear arms, for sporting use and protection.

School shootings are getting so frequent that we hardly bat an eye anymore. Has ANY of them been done by a girl?

Something very few news outlets reported is it was an armed teacher that stopped the carnage. He heard the first shot, came into the hallway, pulled his pistol and told Pierson to drop his gun "or I'm dropping you". The coward then shot himself. Why isn't THIS being told everywhere? Perhaps it doesn't fit the liberal news media agenda.
