This time hunter Rick Dyer has really captured Bigfoot—like really for real. And he's released an image of a creature that he says will ensure his place in history, the Huffington Post reports. "Bigfoot is not a tooth fairy—Bigfoot is real," he told KSAT. "The most important thing to me is being vindicated, letting people know that I am the best Bigfoot tracker in the world and it's not just me saying it." A self-proclaimed professional Bigfoot hunter, Dyer says he killed the beast in 2012 near San Antonio, Texas, after luring it with pork ribs he bought at Walmart. Dyer says he's shown the corpse to 130 people and recorded some of their reactions on video. "We definitely made them believers," he said.

The Houston Chronicle offers one healthy dose of skepticism, noting that some in the "Bigfoot research community" think Dyer's Bigfoot looks suspiciously like a Lord of the Rings character. Still, Dyer also claims that "every test that you can possibly imagine" has been done on the body, including DNA tests and "3D optical scans." He previously released a grainy video that he claims shows his encounter with Bigfoot, and wrote an account of it that HuffPo calls "haphazardly written." He now promises to hold a news conference where he will show the Bigfoot corpse and his various test results. (With any luck he'll fare better than two other Bigfoot enthusiasts, one of whom was shot by a friend and another who was run over and killed while dressed as Bigfoot.)
