(Newser) Transformers director Michael Bay has made headlines again, this time for a bizarre incident at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas yesterday. Bay was taking part in a news conference about Samsung's new curved TVs when there was a problem with the teleprompter, the Los Angeles Times reports. Bay trailed off mid-sentence, explained, "The type is all off. Sorry, but I'll just wing this," then trailed off mid-sentence again ... and finally walked off stage.

Bay explained on his blog: "Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES—I was about to speak for Samsung for this awesome Curved 105-inch UHD TV. I rarely lend my name to any products, but this one is just stellar. I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP’s intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down—then I walked off. I guess live shows aren't my thing." (Click to read about another odd Michael Bay incident.)

Usually its the sports people that go off prompter and you just have to keep rolling or decide to just stop until they get back on track. But for the operator, when someone goes off script the best thing to do is to hit "next" and go on to the next story or point. At least that tells the brainless-wonder-talking-head they are off script.

A big hollywood producer can't tell a group of people about his work? The poor people who work for this guy.
