(Uncredited) (Newser) – His lawyers wanted more time, but a federal judge thought that Nov. 3 is time enough. That's the trial date that was today set by Judge George O'Toole Jr. for Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Tsarnaev's lawyers had been gunning for a trial date no earlier than September 2015; prosecutors were clamoring for a fall date, reports the AP. Defense attorney Judy Clarke said federal prosecutors have been "sluggish" in handing over evidence, and pointed out that the defense team has yet to examine 2,000 pieces of physical evidence that are still in the FBI's lab near Washington, DC. Tsarnaev faces the death penalty.
