(Newser) – We need to make it a lot harder for parents to refuse vaccinations for their kids, writes Michael Gerson in the Washington Post. It's bad enough that those who wrongly believe vaccines cause autism or brain damage are endangering their own children, but they're also putting the general public at risk, he writes. Too often, states let parents skip the shots "for vague religious and philosophic reasons" under the umbrella of parental choice.

But this is way different than, say, teaching your kids that humans walked with dinosaurs. This isn't just wrong, it's "wrong and dangerous," writes Gerson. "Opting out should be difficult and burdensome. And there is no parental right to send a purposely unvaccinated child to public school, exposing other children to unnecessary risk." I don think this is right. I've never had a flu shot in my life, and guess what, I've never had the flu. "Oh, its just crazy that shots could cause more problems", is what doctor's would say. But that's like saying that all the pills and drugs that doctor's prescribe are okay too. They aren't!!! They usually cause way more problems than there were to begin with. Has no one else noticed that very long list of symptoms for almost every medication out there? They are bad for you!!! I got a little off topic, but my point is, the Governemt should not enforce Vaccinations on the public. It could be a health risk and beyond that, it's just not right to enforce that rule on a "Free Country."

Every child has the right to public education- it's not about the parents right to do anything. Vaccines and school are two separate issues. Maybe all of you are endangering non-vaccinated ppl by interrupting the natural order and taking focus away from treating these illnesses. Just give us separate schools and drinking fountains. This is bigotry and it shouldn't be regarded or accepted as anything else. Hate-speech. I'm just anti-vacc, you're anti-people. Disgusting.
