Ukraine holds elections this weekend, and Vladimir Putin has promised to honor the results, reports AP. But what if he has to deal with Darth Vader? A candidate by that name (and uniform) is running for mayor in both Kiev and Odessa, and his videos have become a sensation in the country. It's apparently the same guy seeking office as a write-in in both cities, reports Bloomberg, which sees the satire as directed at both Ukraine and Russia.

"I alone can make an empire out of a republic, restore former glories, return lost territories and pride in this country," he says. The Voice of Russia reports that he officially changed his name to Darth Vader from Viktor Shevchenko in March. He first tried to run for president, but his paperwork wasn't up to snuff. Candidate Vader runs under the Internet Party and promises "fish for everyone" if elected. (More Darth Vader stories.)
